Wistariahurst Museum located in Holyoke Massachusetts is a great place for wedding day photo ops. Regardless of the weather, Wistariahurst Museum offers picturesque opportunities for great wedding photographs. Over the years I have photographed many ceremonies and post wedding photo sessions at Wistariahurst Museum. Either the grounds or interior offer many choices for the photographer to use. One of my favorite spots is the winding staircase located just as you enter the lobby from Beech St. It is a lovely Victorian winding stair case with a landing and beautiful chandelier, flanked by large windows with drapes. Wistariahurst Museum boasts many fire places to use and awesome doorways to frame your group photographs. The music room at Wistariahurst Museum is a favorite for ceremonies and post ceremony photographs. The rear porch with its vines also offers a location for creative and beautiful wedding photographs. Using the Wistariahurst Museum as a photo backup for bad weather is a good idea if your venue does not have a good photo location on site. One important thing to consider is the fact that Wistariahurst Museum will book more than one wedding party and overlap the coverage time. The last time we were there, we were allowed one hour of use. Yes, we arrived on time, but we literally had only 15 minutes of exclusive use before the other wedding arrived. It seemed to me that they booked the times too close together or they arrived early and were let in. It is well advised to consider the possibility that you may be slightly rushed or feel crowded during your wedding photo session. Parking can be an issue as there are limited spaces close to the facility. Limos can have a difficult time parking on Beech St. On a good weather day this is a non issue. Rain makes it feel like a long walk from the street to the door. Over all, the Wistariahurst Museum offers a great place to insure you have decent wedding photographs regardless of weather conditions on your wedding day. I have included a few photographs from our recent visit to Wistariahurst Museum on January 11, 2014. Yes it was raining and yes the bridal party had to walk a distance from their limo through puddles to get inside. Once inside the outside conditions fade away quickly.
